The Value of Christian Summer Camps by Stephen Kuhrt
1 [21979] Posted by: Ian T Thursday 9 August 2012 - 06:44pm

Having taken young people on CPAS camps when I was a curate, I would agree with Stephen's comments.  I can also commend the 'Sports plus' camps run by Christians in Sport for young people serious about their sport.

Alternative Vote
2 [17788] Posted by: Ian T Tuesday 26 April 2011 - 09:14am

Will anyone be giving 'Christian' advice on the Alternative Vote referendum next week?  I'm not preaching this Sunday, but to parishioners who ask my opinion I am saying that:

  1. AV encourages honesty, in that people are free to express their true preference with their first choice, rather than vote tactically on the basis of dodgy opinion polls
  2. AV helps us to love our neighbour, because it looks for an acceptable compromise when there is no clear majority from the first preferences.

I would be interested to hear what other fulcrum members are saying about this - and whether they are speaking about it from the pulpit!

Thanks for the hymn Andrew.  Too late to use this Easter, but next year perhaps... any copyright issues?
