Sarah Coakley Holy Week Meditations
1 [23289] Posted by: Graham Kings Saturday 6 April 2013 - 12:06pm

Sarah Coakley was an extraordinary gift and presence at Salisbury Cathedral this Holy Week and Easter. Shrewd, incisive insights into familiar Scriptures abounded. She led a quiet afternoon for the Bishop of Salisbury's Staff on Monday and these mediations published here are profound. Hearing the last one at the 5.30am dawn Easter Eucharist was momentous.

Learning Together in South Sudan

Thanks, Celinda. We have set up a 'Prayer Wall' on our Salisbury-Sudans Link web page: http://www.salisbury.anglican.org/mission/the-sudan-link/prayer That also mentions our twitter page, which gives daily updates: www.twitter.com/sudanlink And twitter address: @sudanlink Hope this is helpful for your meeting. Indeed, all church denominations and traditions can pray and plan action together for the churches in the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan: see my opening paragraph 'Ecumenism leaps to life under pressure.' Also, we receive much more than we can give: hence my retelling of their insights intro Scripture.

Life in Lent 2013
6 [23156] Posted by: Graham Kings Wednesday 27 February 2013 - 07:39am

We have just published on Fulcrum 'Meandering in South Sudan', my poem about the River Nile, written on Sunday in Juba. Perspectives on 'Life in Lent' are very different in that context.

I was in South Sudan helping with a clergy refresher course on mission theology in the Bible in Malakal, at the invitation of Bishop Hilary Garang, Bishop of Malakal.

This is a photo I took on the east bank of the Nile at sunset, looking west.

We have just published on Fulcrum a poem I wrote in Kenya in 1986 'Prayer Stool', which was also published in 'Signs and Seasons: a guide for your Christian journey' (Canterbury Press, 2008).

Looking forward to discussions on this thread about how people are planning to live in a new way in Lent this year.
