Yes, well, it is about human form and expression, in many ways, so these images do form very expressive shapes and a dynamic for the Easter period.

BBC London TV filmed a primary school class discussing the Easter Images project in St Mary's Church Islington on Maundy Thursday morning. It was broadcast at 1.30pm and again at 6.30pm. To see the video, click here.

What a powerful work by Silvia Dimitrova.  With its colour and serenity it dazzles in a gentle sort of way (to borrow words from a poem whose author I don't recall).  And Graham's meditation on its theology helps us interact with the work very nicely.  In icons of the 'Mother of God' that I've seen, Mary points to Jesus with her hand, as if to say: Look to him, not me, as the Way.  Dimitrova has both hands pointing to Jesus.

The meaning of kephale in scripture posted by djr

Bowman Thanks for the kind comments.  It wasn't my specific intention to cast new light on "kephale", especially as I really am no expert at all on Greek (or on any of this, to be honest).  Before getting carried away, it's probably best for me to say I think the e...

The ABCD of depression, happiness, and wisdom posted by Bowman

It has always struck me as worse than perverse that I attended church for decades but only encountered basic useful tested instruction about how to live with these curious minds we have in a course I took at Harvard. After all, you can't easily open a Bible at a random page that does not, as ...
