Gavin Calver succeeds Roy Crowne as National Director of Youth For Christ
Our congratulations to Gavin Calver who will be succeeding Roy Crowne as National Director of Youth For Christ from April 2009.
Gavin is currently Director of Church and Schools Resources and has served YFC for eight years. The son of another former National Director, Clive Calver, he studied at the then London Bible College.
In 2004 he offered advice on how the church needs to change to stay in touch with young people during their teenage years, relating how he came through this difficult time in his book - 'Disappointed with Jesus?' (Monarch). His latest book 'On the Front Line' came out this year. Gavin has worked closely with Roy Crowne whose leadership of YFC has been very significant, and who has nurtured many young people into Christian leadership.
Ken Wright, Chairman of YFC says
“The Board of YFC is delighted that Gavin has accepted our invitation to become National Director. He is an accomplished leader, communicator and innovator who has an amazing passion for taking the Good News to young people. We are convinced that Gavin is God’s choice to lead YFC to see a whole generation of British young people encounter the love and salvation of Jesus”
Gavin is married to Anne and they have a small daughter, Amelie. We wish him every blessing as he continues this vital work.

It has always struck me as worse than perverse that I attended church for decades but only encountered basic useful tested instruction about how to live with these curious minds we have in a course I took at Harvard. After all, you can't easily open a Bible at a random page that does not, as ...
