Finished in the New Creation

The flourishing hand of Bach,

interweaving the sum of his works,

leaves unfinished

his Art of Fugue,

interrupted, solely,

by the glory of God.

The measureless hand of Coleridge,

dreaming an early work,

leaves unfinished

his Kubla Khan,

interrupted, perhaps,

by the person from Porlock.

The impressive hand of Turner,

evoking multiple works,

leaves unfinished

his paintings in progress,

interrupting exhibits,

by adding light touches.

All are finished, completed, perfected,

in the new creation of God.

Alleluah! He is risen! He is risen indeed!! by Peter Menkin At the intersection of Easter we wait with thoughts of new life, the life of a baby, the life of the Baptized, the life of the lamb, and the memory of slaughter, of the death is fresh, but forgotten for the time we say, He is risen! He is risen indeed!! Those bones, those bones, those dry bones are linked, renewed, given flesh, given life. More than renewal, like freshness, like birth... Out of the tomb, white as lightning, transfigured... we are mystified, believers, quiet in surprise, wondering at the miracle and hearing how the Apostles told their friends the tomb is empty. He is risen! He is risen indeed!! The mind cannot fathom God's working, the promise, we go on with the tale, this myth, this story this reality after vigil, after waiting, knowing the end does not come, for from generation to generation the day is celebrated, as from everlasting to everlasting there is Christ. Shall we say it the third time, Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy. He is risen! He is risen indeed!! Alleluah! Freely is the offer made, freely we take the body and blood, ...we bless you in this freeform of sentences, for our creation, preservation...above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; we share in his victory over death.   Notes: This is the raw poem, as written this 2:30 a.m. morning time Monday, at home north of San Francisco. I see you've asked we add a poem, and it is my good fortune to have this place to present it as is, now. Revise? Later maybe. I do hope you like it. Peter Menkin

Wonderful poem, a reminder that it is from God that all creativity flows.

PS Samuel Coleridge a poet from upottery St Mary Devon in the 1800s was one thing i came across when looking at the definition of the word. This brings back memories. Graham Matt and I saw in the New Millenium with them. It has to be said that it was in a nice way the funniest service i ever attended. The Vicar had broken his leg he hopped up to the alter and appeared to go through the service at twice the speed of sound, at some point he said "up the christians" which Gray and i thought was hilarious, so much so we missed the context, Gray never the less took his first communion at this little Church i dont suppose he knew that, not Gray, the Vicar.  Of course we then had the ritual fireworks and a drink whilst taking receipt of the paper back New Testament. Thankyou for your poem it is a true reflection of all artistic people whether musically or art wise or word wise. The being unfinished in a new creation can be perplexing, The interuptions of the course of life can be yet a new creation. It looks a really complicated poem when you first look at it, but once you get the definitions of fugue and colleridge its fairly straight forward. I know i am  an unfinished  artwork because no credible loving God could leave me looking like this. LOL Waterangel

Acts 10:42. This is the gospel. We do not know when or how all men will be judged. We do not know the precise criteria, so we cannot find any loopholes. We now know who the judge is. Shall not the judge of all the earth do right?   David

Genesis 1:28a posted by Andrew Chapman

Thanks, Bowman. And does this - the pleasantness of compliance to God's order and commands - not apply not only to aspects of the law given to Israel, which we are not obliged to keep, but also to the traditions of the apostles, which we are instructed to hold on to, and pass on to the next g...

Women Bishops: Church in all its Fullness posted by Andrew Chapman

I quite like Bowman's point that there is potential danger in bringing the women bishops issue into Ephesians 5 (if I can put it like that), which is about marriage. If we want to know 'how we should conduct [ourselves] in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pilla...

The meaning of kephale in scripture posted by Andrew Chapman

Bowman, you say that the only distinguishing quality of the relationships: Christ:man, man:woman, God:Christ, and Christ:church, husband:wife (I have added one there), is coinherence. Surely, there is a hierarchy of authority visible here. Jesus submits to the Father, the church submits to the Lo...
