A vision where our differences are laid aside – ACNS

At the end of October and beginning of November, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, Archbishop Suheil Dawani, joined Muslim, Jewish and Christian religious leaders in Poland to visit ghetto areas in Warsaw before journeying to Krakow and Auschwitz. The Archbishop prayed for all victims of hate crime and gave the following reflection:

  1. ‘The God described and understood by the Abrahamic faiths works this mystery and we find it echoed in our shared history and in our scriptures: a vision of a world where there is no more weeping heard, where we can plant vineyards and eat their fruit, where the wolf and the lamb shall feed together (cf. Isaiah 65, 17-25). It is a vision where our differences are laid aside, so our humanity can be celebrated, as we live together side-by-side.’

Oh Dear. This vision and this peace is only realised as a consummation of the great salvation worked out by the Christian Triune God, and only those will participate in this vision who have submitted in repentance, faith, love, obedience and fear to the Lord Jesus Christ who died for the sins of all those who have ever and will ever trust in him and who was raised because of their justification.

    Let’s not delude ourselves.
