A person with a vocation is always something of a puzzle. Christian clergy are marked out by the paradox of living a life devoted to God, while at the same living that life as an embodied — and certainly imperfect — human being. They are meant to live exemplary lives of faith. They are supposed to renounce the worldliness of money, sex, and politics. And yet, they are as much afflicted with the desire for these things as any of us are.
