Growing Women Leaders: Nurturing Women's Leadership in the Church

Growing Women Leaders:

nurturing women's leadership in the Church

by Rosie Ward

Women's leadership in the Church is a hot topic around the world, yet there are few books which address the issues women face as well as the theological debate which lies behind them. This is why I wrote Growing Women Leaders: nurturing women's leadership in the Church (Bible Reading Fellowship/CPAS).

The book aims to affirm and equip women leaders in their calling to leadership. It addresses the question, ‘Should women be leaders in the Church?’ and issues such as ‘Do women and men lead differently?’ and ‘What challenges do women face as leaders in the Church?’ With insights from Christian and secular sources, it includes stories of women leaders in Scripture, in history and in modern society. It’s a book for all, both women and men, who are interested in the future of leadership in the Church.

The foreword is by Mike Hill, Bishop of Bristol.

Christina Rees, of Archbishops’ Council and WATCH writes:

‘An impressive summary of biblical and historical information and an insightful analysis of the issues surrounding women and leadership. Every church leader – and aspiring leader – should read this book.’

Christina Baxter, Principal of St John’s College Nottingham writes:

‘I thoroughly commend this book as a wise and thought-provoking contribution to an area which is a continuing concern to many women and men.’

There is a 20-page extract of the book on the BRF website – to access this, click here.

Copies of the book are available, price £8.99, from Christian bookshops, from BRF or from CPAS.

I will be speaking at a launch event, Celebrating Men and Women in Leadership, on Saturday 1st November, 10.30am-3.30pm, at the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity, Vere Street (off Oxford Street). This event is organised by Men Women and God – see their website for further details.
