The headline reveals both the prime target and an attempt at equal treatment. Places of public worship that want the tax breaks are already registered as charities. It may be simpler to amend the legislation to have a negative public interest test to remove this privilege. There are massive problems in who this applies to. leaders of christian think tanks? Elders in independent churches? A university degree in theology is not incompatible with political radicalism.
